Protection from the Wicked

You, LORD, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked
Psalm 12:7

Dire Emergency Rescue

An Alpha Relief operative supplying food and medicine in North Korea traveled to China to gather supplies for the underground church. While there, she received an urgent warning. She is no longer safe in her hometown and now needs to escape to South Korea.

Our contact writes:

“She was one of our main managers who distributed our goods in her city. She came to China for the boxes and other goods (she has legal document to come to China). We just found out that North Korea
knew her activity and is waiting for her. Since her family is still in
North Korea she is devastated by this news. There is no doubt she’ll face death when she goes back. It is very urgent that we need to move her to safety right away.”

Please Pray:

  • For the safety and rescue of this dedicated operative
  • That funding is secured for her dangerous journey
    to South Korea
  • For her family in North Korea, that they are protected by God and kept safe from North Korean authorities

Whom Shall I Fear?

The LORD is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked advance against me
to devour me,
it is my enemies and my foes
who will stumble and fall.

Psalm 27:1-3 (TNIV)

The civil war in Burma is at our doorstep. Just across the river from the Alpha Camp (a refugee camp for orphans), a landmine recently discharged and bombs continue to explode regularly. Alpha Camp directors started evacuation drills (with the forty resident children) when they learned that two hundred Burmese soldiers made camp less than 20 minutes away and more are arriving shortly.

Please Pray:

  • For the Burmese Army to decide that it is undesirable to reclaim the border area
  • That the children of Alpha Camp remain safe, and that they are not further traumatized by the proximity of warfare
  • In thanksgiving for the depth of faith of these children
  • For wisdom and discernment for the camp directors

Alert to All Kinds of Prayers

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind,
be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Ephesians 6:18

An Alpha Relief underground food distributor inside North Korea has requested your prayers:

  • In recent months the border policies and inspection processes have made it more difficult to deliver food inside North Korea. Please pray for success using current methods of food distribution.
  • Three families in her network have been sent to labor camps for trying to purchase food on the black market. Please pray that they are able to receive food and medicine from outside the camp without drawing attention to the underground network serving them.
  • She has encountered many street children lying on the roadside. When she tried to wake them and give them food, she realized they were either dead or too weak to move. Please pray that she finds a way to meets the needs of North Korean orphans.

Break the Yoke

For you (God) will break the yoke of their slavery and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders. You will break the oppressor’s rod, just as you did when you destroyed the army of Midian.
Isaiah 9:4

Human trafficking is the second largest and fastest growing criminal industry worldwide, valued at over $32 billion (US) per year. Women and girls comprise 80% of trafficking victims, and 50% are minors. Many are
sold into prostitution or sexual exploitation, where the average age of

entry is 12 years old.

Pray:

  • God protects those most vulnerable from the eyes of traffickers
  • That it becomes fiscally prohibitive to buy and sell people
  • For international NGOs (non-profits) fighting the spread of human trafficking to have an unprecedented amount of success
  • That authorities worldwide are sensitive to the plight of human trafficking victims
  • For a change of heart of traffickers; that they are struck with compassion for those they have previously exploited

They are your People

“They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand.”
Nehemiah 1:10 (NIV)

For generations, corruption and power struggles have plagued the ruling forces of Burma (Myanmar). The current regime is a military junta which is hostile toward ethnic minority groups and actively engages in acts of genocide against them. The military regime seeks to destroy Christianity (which it calls the C-virus) and in many cases Christians are pressured or forced to covert to Buddhism.

Pray:

  • For the 200,000 Burmese people who have been chased from their villages due to the nation’s 60 year civil war.
  • For the thousands of children who have been separated from their parents. Pray that they find their way to safety and come to know that they have an eternal Father who “will never leave nor forsake them”.
  • That God protects the hearts of His children who are being pressured to change their faith.
  • For the Burmese Army, that God softens the hearts of its soldiers and gives them compassion for those they persecute.
